Wenger: That`s why I admire the Sumo, they respect rivals

CAIRO – 13 December 2017: José Mourinho has found an unexpected ally following the controversial fight in the locker room of Old Trafford after the recent Manchester derby that resulted in victory for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.

After seeing how other colleagues such as Louis Van Gaal turned their backs, Mourinho was surprised to know that he has the support of his counterpart at Arsenal, Arsène Wenger.

The Gunners’ coach, despite the friction maintained with 'Mou' in the past, was sympathetic to the coach of United on the well-known controversy in the locker room. “Things can get out of control, I'm not sure what happened but it has already happened to us and I know it is difficult to accept the celebrations from the other side," Wenger said.

The French coach surprised, however, resorted to praising the Japanese culture, specifically the Sumo, for the respect they have for their rivals.

"That is why I admire the Sumo that is practiced in Japan, because the winner does not exhibit his joy out of respect for the adversary," Wenger said, before assuring that it is a behavior that "we can copy", despite being aware of that it "is not part of our culture."
